THE VESTRIS
Family of French dancers, whose members include GAETANO STAFANO VESTRIS (1757-1821), and AUGUSTE VESTRIS (1760 - 1842). A nice grouping of three A.L.S. by members of the illustrious dance family, includes: A.L.S. by STEFANO VESTRIS, 4pp. 4to., London, Aug. 27, 1817, in Italian to Mr. Benelli, Director of the Favart Theatre in Paris, concerning his upcoming trip to Paris, and commenting upon the behavior of his son. Along with an A.L.S. with a fine A.M.Q. within by AUGUSTE VESTRIS, 3pp. 8vo., Metz, "the 25th", [n.y.], in French to Mr. Beer at the Theatre of Nancy, concerning "...the score of Othello..." and asking for a copy for his orchestra, among other things. On the final page, he adds a handsome A.M.Q. of four measures, presumably from Othello, adding beneath: "This is what you should copy...". Finally, an A.L.S. by another member of the family signed "Vestris", 1p. 4to., Paris, Aug. 27, 1834, in French to Mr. Caste, Division of Fine Arts at the Ministry of the Interior, regarding a request and adding "...I beg you to urge the Minister to action because I am in the most pressing need...". Three pieces, overall very good condition, with complete translations.
