THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER

One Sheet (27" x 41"); Style D
Very Fine on Linen; Artwork by William Galbraith Crawford
MGM, 1940

The poster, professionally mounted on linen, exhibits minimal touch-ups to the fold lines and crossfolds. Pinholes were present in the corners. Overall, it is a bright and splendid copy.

Riding the wave of his 1939 hit Ninotchka, Director Ernst Lubitsch, helmed this equally enchanting romantic comedy featuring the ever-charming James Stewart. Based on the Hungarian play by Nikolaus Miklos Laszlo, the story revolves around Stewart and Margaret Sullavan, two bickering sales clerks in a Budapest store who, unbeknownst to each other, fall in love through anonymous love letters.
