THE SERVANT

British Quad (30" x 40")
Fine- Rolled
Associated British/Pathe, 1963

This is a charming, rolled, and unrestored version of the renowned quad poster. It exhibits bending and wear along the borders, along with a V-shaped tear within the name Wendy, and minor tears and holes. Despite these issues, the poster presents very well.

The renowned and controversial director Joseph Losey brought a strikingly modernist jolt to British cinema with his captivating exploration of class, sexuality, and authority in The Servant. The film follows a decadent member of the elite (James Fox) who employs what appears to be the ideal manservant (a sinister Dirk Bogarde) to manage his new London residence. However, the facade begins to crumble as the established social order is subtly and alarmingly upended.
