THE ROLLING STONES

American Tour 1972 Poster (25" x 38")
Near Mint Rolled; Artwork by John Pasche
Sunday Productions, 1972

The Rolling Stones' 1972 American Tour, commonly known as the S.T.P. (Stones Touring Party), commenced after the release of their album 'Exile on Main St.' Starting in Vancouver, B.C., the tour featured 48 performances throughout the US and Canada, culminating in three back-to-back shows at New York's Madison Square Garden. Stevie Wonder, who was not widely known to rock audiences then, served as the opening act and sometimes joined the Stones for the finale of the evening's show.

John Pasche, while a student at the Royal College of Art, designed the Rolling Stones' 1970 European Tour poster and created their famous tongue and lips logo in 1971. Mick Jagger later commissioned him to design a 1972 American Tour poster, featuring the lips logo on their tour plane. Inspired by 1920s and 1930s travel posters, this iconic design marks the Stones' peak post-"Exile on Main Street" and is a collector's classic, with originals identifiable by the credits: "John Pasche" and "Production by Chipmonck" in the bottom left corner, and "Sunday Promotions Inc. 1972" in the bottom right. This example is rolled in outstanding condition
