The magazine was popular amongst radicals for publishing progressive essays attacking militarism, the clergy, church dogma, and orthodox thought. Authors who wrote for the Philistine include Rudyard Kipling, Leo Tolstoy, and Eugene R. White. Publications have minor tears on edges, minor damage on edges, and splits along spine.
