CARPET: A one-of-a-kind replica (NEW) of a rug from Biejing's Forbidden City. At the request of this seller, the rug was commissioned to be copied to exact specifications as the tapestry that hangs in the Forbidden City Palace. The same type of material, wool, was used to copy this unique rug. The primary colors of this Forbidden City Palace rug are (Imperial) yellow and blue. Only Imperial Yellow was utilized for China's royal families. The image in the center of the rug symbolized The Palace where the emperors lived. The flowers surrounding the Palace are Peonies (modern day flower of China), which represent love, wealth and fortune. Also the peony (a spring flower) was representative of the Emperor...known as the Flower of Kings. The Forbidden City Palace, which is a city within the city of Beijing, was home to 24 emperors since the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), and boasts 10,000 rooms in several buildings on 250 acres within the city of Beijing. The carpet is approximately 6'10"W x 8'10"W.
