Large format posters such as this for Chaplin's great silent comedies are as scarce as they come.

This beautiful poster featuring Charlie Chaplin from his final film of the 1920s features a classic circus-themed motify. Prior to linen-backing, the poster had small tears and chips in the borders, fold wear and separation at and near the crossfolds, and small tears and creases in the image area. This rare poster would benefit from being backed with more in-depth restoration.

The Circus" is one of Charlie Chaplin's most beloved films, showcasing excellent slapstick and talented stunts. It also represents Chaplin's sheer determination, as the film faced multiple major difficulties. Despite receiving a Special Academy Award for "Writing, Acting, Directing, and Producing The Circus," Chaplin encountered various setbacks. These included the theft of an entire circus train by drunken college boys, a fire in Chaplin's studio, and a scandalous divorce from Lita Grey. However, Chaplin's unwavering dedication and determination ensured that the film made it to theaters, solidifying his reputation as a mastermind in the industry.
