THE BIG DOLL HOUSE

One Sheet (27" x 41") Signed by Director Jack Hill
Very Fine Folded
New World Pictures, 1971

In this action thriller directed by Jack Hill, beautiful female prisoners are abused in a Philippine prison until five of them plot an escape by taking the evil female warden hostage with reluctant help from two male fruit vendors. The artwork depicts two women trapped inside of a bamboo cage while two other women are on the outside with heavy firepower. This poster is from the collection of director Jack Hill and includes his signature. Affixed to the verso is a return address label from Jack Hill. Folded as issued, this example exhibits general fold and crossfold wear with toning along the folds, random edge wear and three pieces of clear Scotch tape along the upper and lower edges.

"The Big Doll House" marked Pam Grier's first big acting role. Director Jack Hill named the sadistic prison warden "Dietrich" after German producer Erwin C. Dietrich, with whom Hill had had a very unpleasant experience after Dietrich hired him to shoot a film in Switzerland.
