This is an Original Linen Backed 14 1/2" X 19 1/4 (with Linen backing) poster for the 1954 Belgian release of the Warner Brothers science fiction classic, THE Beast from 20,000 fathoms. The Belgian title on the poster is "LE MONSTRE DES TEMPS PERDUES" and the poster features incredible art work of the massive dragon like beast terrorizing patrons as they flee for their lives from an amusement park. This poster is in very good condition overall. There is some aging and discoloration around the borders and couple of minor blemishes on the artwork itself that are barely visible. (see photos) Overall this is a very nice piece. "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms is a 1953 American black-and-white, science fiction, monster film from Warner Bros., produced by Jack Dietz and Hal E. Chester, directed by Eugène Lourié, that stars Paul Christian, Paula Raymond, Cecil Kellaway, and Kenneth Tobey.[4] The film's stop-motion animation special effects are by Ray Harryhausen. Its screenplay is based on Ray Bradbury's 1951 short story "The Fog Horn", specifically the scene where a lighthouse is destroyed by the title character.[5]
The film's story concerns a fictional dinosaur, the Rhedosaurus, which is released from its frozen, hibernating state by an atomic bomb test in the Arctic Circle.[5] The beast begins to wreak a path of destruction as it travels southward, eventually arriving at its ancient spawning grounds, which includes New York City.[6]
The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms was one of the early atomic monster movies, and it helped inspire a generation of creature features and directly inspired Godzilla." (Wikipedia) For More information on the film: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beast_from_20,000_Fathoms
