This poster is a film that many consider, one of the best ever made, The African Queen (1951), starring Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn. This Original Belgian 1952 Linen Backed, Vintage Release Window Card Poster (L REINE AFRICAINE) measures 15 3/4" X 21" with the line backing. This is a highly collectible poster for one of the most respected films in cinema history. This is a beautiful poster in Excellent conditon. The top of the window card usually 4 inches for the name and address of the theatre has been trimmed (as is common for these types of posters). A bit of the lettering still remains at the top dipping barely into the top of the image. When framed, this lettering is not really visible. Beyond that and a slight bit of aging on the bottom border, this poster in in pretty incredible conditon. The poster not only displays the two leads but also various scenes of action from this classic adventure film. The film was directed by John Huston and produced by Sam Spiegel[6] and John Woolf. The screenplay was adapted by James Agee, John Huston, John Collier and Peter Viertel. It was photographed in Technicolor by Jack Cardiff and has a music score by Allan Gray. The film stars Humphrey Bogart (who won the Academy Award for Best Actor – his only Oscar), and Katharine Hepburn with Robert Morley, Peter Bull, Walter Gotell, Richard Marner and Theodore Bikel.The African Queen was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry in 1994, with the Library of Congress deeming it "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant. It currently holds a 98% "Certified Score" on Rotten Tomatoes based on 44 reviews, with an average rating of 8.75/10.
