[American Numismatic Association]. Bolender, M.H. A.N.A. CONVENTION SALE. FIFTY-SECOND PUBLIC SALE OF RARE COINS. Chicago: Marvin A. Barlow, Auctioneer, Aug. 27, 1929. 8vo, original printed marbled card covers. 34, (2) pages; 691 lots. Original PRL laid in. Fine. Scarce. In his Notice to Bidders, Bolender remarks: “It is customary to have an auction sale of coins at each Convention of the American Numismatic Association. This year the association meets in Chicago from Aug. 24 to Aug. 29 and it was only at the urgent requests of the officers of the Chicago Coin Club and members of the American Numismatic Association that I prepared the auction sale.” Bolender had a penchant for selecting unusual card stock for the covers of some of his more notable catalogues and the example offered here is an early example, featuring most attractive, blended muted colors in a swirling free-form marbled pattern.
