(1854 - 1951) American political agitator who led a group of unemployed, referred to as "Coxey's Army, on a march to Washington to seek employment relief. A.L.S. 1p. 8vo. "Walnut St.", Nov. 30, 1779, to a Mrs. Hobart of Philadelphia. Coxe has learned that the lady has a sum of "hard money" on hand, and notes: "...with respect to my inclination and ability to do you Justice..." offers to invest it "...if it is any where between 100 [pounds] and 1,200 [pounds]..." Rought right margin, else very good.
