19th century glazed ovoid carafe with flared mouth. It is in very good condition, no chipping at all. It has unglazed foot and a glaze drip. There is also coral debris on the outside of the vase, evidence of the time spent underwater.<p>It measures 4" tall x 2 3/4" width.<p>The various sizes of carafe as pictured in the Nagel auction catalog are shown below. The sizes vary between 11 and 15 cm. This listing is for the 15 cm size. The TEK SING SHIPWRECK catalog and guide (as shown) is also available to the buyer.<p>Part of the recently salvaged cargo from the 1822 South China Sea shipping disaster. The ship was a Chinese trading junk, named the Tek Sing. The cargo ship sank in South China seas in 1822 with a loss of 1800 lives. Each piece has it's original label from Nagel's auction house, Stuttgart, where cargo finally sold in Nov.2000.
