Additional Information: The aquatint is hand signed by the artist "T. de Lempicka" at the lower right margin.
The work was printed in a limited edition of 175 impressions plus some artist and printer's proofs.
It was printed in 1956 by Editions C. Guillard, whose details are printed in the plate at the upper left corner of the image: "Copyright 1956 by Éditions C. Guillard, 9 rue Rougemont Paris 9e".
It is closey based on Lempicka's oil painting "Le Turban Orange" painted circa 1945 and formerly in the collection of Mr. & Mrs. Van Den Abbeele.
According to Alain Blondel the author of the Lempicka catalogue raisonne this subject matter is certainly the one that earned the most variations and repetitions by the artist's own hand. In Lempicka eye, it must have represented her determination to avoid undermining the Renaissance masters.
The paper bears the BFK watermark in the lower right margin.
