T5 $100 1861. This beautiful note was the first issue of the Confederacy after its capital was moved from Montgomery to Richmond subsequent to Virginia's secession from the Union. It was printed by the "Southern Bank Note Company," (which was actually the New Orleans branch of the American Bank Note Company) and features a most attractive railroad vignette in the center of the note. This example is well margined for the issue, and misses the full Uncirculated grade due only to the lightest of vertical folds. Choice About Uncirculated, an ideal piece for any high-end collection of CSA notes.
