T5 $100 1861. F/VF Cut and Punch-cancelled
T5 $100 1861. This $100 was printed by the Southern Bank Note Company. It has been cut cancelled and nicely repaired. It has also been punch cancelled ten times. The punch cancels were repaired at one time in the distant past, but nine of the PC repairs have since failed. This was a common way to cancel this issue. A small edge tear has also been repaired. The note remains attractive and it also becomes a more affordable representative of a very difficult type as only 5798 were printed. The back reveals an endorsement, a small red "H", and an April 21, 1863 stamping for 425 days of interest. These notes were not the first notes to be issued from the new Confederate capital at Richmond, but the "First Richmond" moniker has stuck since the earliest days of collecting Confederate notes. Fine-Very Fine, CC and POC.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
