“T. Ketland & Company” signed British style made for export pistol converted from flintlock to percussion with the hammer marked “A.F. Getz” who was a well-known Philadelphia maker. The pistol measures 14” overall with an 8” brass barrel ofapproximately .52 caliber smoothbore. The barrel shows “extra proofs” and “London” marking along with “E.L.G.” Belgian proofs. The stock shows a square German silver inlay at the wrist and a small teardrop shaped inlay along with one smallPearl inlay in each side of the stock. The lock shows a deep brown patina finish and the hammer matches the condition of the lock well. The stock shows a few losses, normal aging and minor scratches but is at least good to very good. Aoriginal to the period ramrod is included which may be the original to this pistol. The lock works well. It is our opinion that this is a Belgian made pistol infringing on the style and name of Ketland that was imported to America and converted by Getz. Probably used in the fur trade era or early Western expansion. Est.: $900-$1800
