You are bidding on an original T.j. Hileman hand tinted, signed photograph of Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park. T.J. Hileman (1882-1945) moved to Kalispell, MT in 1911, opening his own portrait studio, after graduating from Effingham School of Photography in Chicago, Il. There he met Alice Georgeson; in 1913, they were the first couple to have been married in Glacier National Park. In 1924, Hileman became the official photographer for the Great Northern Railway. He is very well known for his scenic photographs of the park as well as for his portraits of the Blackfoot Indians of the area. This hand-tinted, framed photo of Lake McDonald has a sticker on the back from Hileman's Kalispell shop. On the back is also handwritten the name of the original owner, with the date "December 25, 1928". The photograph itself is embossed, in the lower left corner, with Hileman's distinctive signature and "Kalispell, Mont." The piece shows very good original condition with some wear to the frame. It measures 14.5" x 8".
