Reverse: Zeus seated left, holding Nike on right hand and resting left on sceptre, with Greek inscription "Of King Antiochos, God Made Manifest." High relief portrait in fine style and nicely toned

In 170 BC, Antiochos plundered the Treasury of the Temple of Jerusalem and carried away golden holy artifacts. Two years later, he issued a decree forbidding all Jewish religious practices under penalty of death. The Jews revolted under the leadership of the Maccabees, and later celebrated their victory with the holiday of Hannukah. Choice Very Fine.
