Syndicate Features V1#3 (Chesler, 1937) Condition: VG+. This four-page tabloid flyer, dated November 15, 1937, was circulated to newspaper editors to promote the science fiction adventure strip "Dan Hastings" (though this flyer is designated issue 3, it's the only issue that was produced). The front page features biographies on two Golden Age greats, writer Ken Fitch and artist Fred Guardineer. The late Guardineer is known to many as one of the artists who contributed to Action Comics #1... which came out the year after this piece! The flyer prints 14 "Dan Hastings" dailies with Guardineer art. The item provides an insight into the comics production of the Harry "A" Chesler packaging shop, which eventually included such Golden Age stalwarts as Creig Flessel, Charles Biro, Gill Fox, and Otto Binder. The four-page flyer, all copies of which came folded according to Overstreet, is 11.5" x 17.75". Since even the mass-produced comic books from the Platinum Age are a rarity, a bit of memorabilia such as this is a scarce item indeed. This copy has a piece of tape on the cover. Overstreet 2004 VG 4.0 value = $900.
