Swiss 1 ½ hand sword circa mid-16th century showing armorers mark on blade and remaining in good to very good original condition. The sword measures 42 ½” overall with 34 ¾” blade which is almost one and ¾” wide at widestpart of blade. The sword is nicely foraged with well-cut blood grooves and finely shaped by armorer. There is a makers mark near the hilt. The grip a shrunken leather over cord and looks to be of the period and shows goodage. The hilt and pommel are undisturbed and all the pieces are matching. There is some light to moderate erosion and surface pitting all of which is minor. The pommel and guard show similar turning. A far above averageearly amoral sword that is genuine to the period.
