<B>Svengali (Warner Brothers, 1931).</B></I> Herald (6" X 9"). Marian Marsh became the screen's best Trilby and there was no doubt that John Barrymore created the definitive Svengali. Based upon George Louis Du Maurier's novel, this adaptation concentrated on Barrymore's performance as the ultimate evil man who uses hypnosis to get Trilby to do his bidding. The role was so good that the word "Svengali" came into general use in the English language. This herald has a couple of edge and corner chips and very slight tears.
