Longitudinal section of the Comstock Lode and profile of the Sutro Tunnel. Lists associated hills, ravines, and shafts with diagrams as to location. Schematic drawings of the proposed tunnel. Views from Virginia City (location of the tunnel) to the Carson River. Shows the Mineral Line and the Sutro Tunnel as approved "by Act of Congress." Map has good color and detail. Some light wear to the edges. 29.5" x 22." By July 1, 1874, 6,200 feet of the tunnel had been completed. Storey County hosted 29 mills. The Big Bonanza was discovered at the Con Virginia in 1873 [Ref: Davis, History of Nevada, 2009, p.354]. Bullion production in Nevada increased by 25% between 1872 and 1874 creating increased excitement in mining.
