Suspicion (RKO, 1941). Lobby Card (11" X 14"). Samson Rafaelson co-wrote this Alfred Hitchcock thriller, a highlight of his long and influential career. (His first, and perhaps biggest, contribution to the industry is authoring the short story and play on which "The Jazz Singer" -- Hollywood's first sound feature -- is based.) The phenomenal success of the first "talkie" brought Rafaelson to Hollywood, and he penned some of the most well-regarded films of the classical era. "The Shop Around the Corner," "Heaven Can Wait" and "The Merry Widow" all became classics, and since his expertise sprang from his extensive experience writing for the stage, he knew his way around a comedic line or musical number. "Suspicion," then, stands as an anomaly in Rafaelson's career, as one of the darkest films in his, and even Hitchcock's, career. This lobby card shows some slight fading and contains several pinholes and a couple of small stains, but as it features Cary Grant, Joan Fontaine and Nigel Bruce, it should be highly sought. Very Good/Fine.
