Surgeon’s kit in original case by J. H. Gemrig, 100 South 8th St., Philadelphia. A very complete set in near fine condition, just missing a couple of minor pieces. Shows large bone saw, flexible saw, surgical implements, tourniquet, full series of scalpels, fine to near excellent condition, shows markings on blades and paper label. The interior is lined in red velveteen and retains its original top cover for holding implements in the lid. The instruments are in generally near fine condition and have been well maintained. This well-known surgical maker was a supplier to Union forces and worked from 1841 to 1880. The exterior of the case is a veneered hardwood with brass fixtures. There is a pewter plaque in the lid of the box which had an inscription purposefully removed. The case measures 3-7/8” in depth, 16-1/2” in length, 6-3/8” wide. A very nice set. Est: $1,250 - $2,500
