Envelope, No Year Era Period, Queen Victoria, ½ Anna Blue, S ¼ 9 Type Cancellation, 17b of Renouf from Patoamari (Assam) dated SEP 12, further carried with “PATOAMARI | DT. Type GOALPARA” District Dak (Type 32e of Bhargava and Chandak), finally delivered at SUJANGARH on 20 SEP, then to BIDASAR on Camel Post, “TOO LATE” postmark which was applied at PATOAMARI, excellent condition, Very Rare.

Note: (i)The instant mail was carried during the time of the “No Year Era period”, hence there appears no year in any of the postmarks.

(ii) This cover is an example of the district Dak of Assam, the postmarks of GOALPARA having a district post office used a name stamp in a square box handed over to the envelope to Potoamari Imperial post office to be forwarded to Bidasar Via Sujangarh. The Imperial post office cancelled the imprint stamps with No. 1 | S-9 |4, S-9 number was of Goalpara, and branch office No. 1 was Dhubri, which was a steamer station, and sub-post office No.4 belonged to Potoamari under Dhubri, Bhargava and Chandak summarize “This is the only example seen from Assam”, it is exactly similar to the example illustrated in “Encyclopedia of Early Indian Cancellations & Post Mark”.
