Signed hardcover of ''Superman From the 30's to the 70's,'' Crown Publishers, Inc.: New York: 1974, third printing. Nine contributors sign the fly-leaf, from Superman's early illustrators to the editors at DC Comics. The penciler and inker illustration team known as ''Swanderson,'' whose art defined Superman's image during the Silver Age of Comic Books, sign: ''Curt Swan'' and ''Murphy Anderson''. Also signed by ''Dennis Janke'', ''Doug Hazlewood'', and ''BOG'' (Jon Bogdanove), the illustrators of the infamous 1992 Death of Superman chapter in the saga. The killing of the hero by the villain named Doomsday shocked fans and the mainstream alike; Superman was eventually resurrected with more powers than ever. DC Comics' top Superman editors ''Mike Carlin'' and ''Julius Schwartz'' add their signatures, and someone even signed as the comic book character ''Jim Olsen''. All autographs are in black or silver felt tip. Superman chronology features comic strips on every page, with many full pages printed in full color. Runs 386pp. Measures 8'' x 10.75''. Bound in red cloth boards with blue lettering. A touch of scattered staining to front board, with minor wear to board edges, spine edges and board corners, else fine. The dustjacket is in very good condition.
