Superman #233 (DC, 1971) CGC NM 9.4 White pages. One of the key DC comics of the 1970s, this one really shook up Superman's world. In fact, some fans point to this book as the beginning of the Bronze Age of comics. The first major event was the elimination of Kryptonite -- since the stuff had been used so often that every two-bit hood in town seemed to have a piece, Editor Julius Schwartz and writer Denny O'Neil began the issue by turning all Kryptonite on Earth into harmless iron. By the end of the issue, Supes is snacking on a piece! Also, the Man of Steel's powers were scaled back quite a bit. And there's more -- the boss from hell, Morgan Edge, made his second appearance and wasted no time making newspaper reporter Clark Kent into a TV newscaster! The issue has a memorable Neal Adams cover and interior art by Curt Swan and Murphy Anderson. Overstreet 2004 NM- 9.2 value = $80. CGC census 12/04: 20 in 9.4, 4 higher.
