Superboy #1 (DC, 1949) CGC Apparent VF 8.0 Slight (P) Off-white to white pages. This is the issue that started off a thirty-year run. The title endured even through those difficult pre-Silver Age days when superheroes were largely out of fashion. Maybe DC's formula for the book had something to do with it -- in the early days of this title, there were no super-powered villains (young Lex Luthor, etc.) and Superboy wasn't whisked off to the future to join the Legion of Super-Heroes every three hours. Instead, well-written tales, usually with a subtle moral for young readers were prevalent. The Boy of Steel's debut issue features a Wayne Boring cover and John Sikela art. CGC notes that restoration was only slight and professionally rendered, and that "Restoration includes: small amount of color touch on cover, tear seals, staples cleaned." Overstreet 2006 GD 2.0 value = $776; VG 4.0 value = $1,552; FN 6.0 value = $2,328; VF 8.0 value = $5,432.

Shipping: Comics - Slabbed (certified) (view shipping information)
