Superbly and extensively engraved and customized Colt SAA revolver by the famous Leonard Francolini (who signed and dated, 1996, this piece), .45 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, silver finish with fire blue screws, trigger, cylinder pin and cylinder pin release screw, deep set Colt medallion ivory two piece grips, #S13232A. This outstanding piece of artistry by one of the greatest contemporary engravers of the 20th century displays a screwless frame, deeply cut engraving in the scroll and vine motif on the barrel assembly, the cylinder, the frame and loading gate, the back strap and trigger guard and even extensive deeply cut engraving on the sides and top of the hammer. The gun is in like new condition and further shows a cutout of the front sight that has been sculpted to compliment the engraving on the muzzle of the barrel. This is one of the finest works by Francolini we have seen and is worthy of a prominent place in any serious collection of high art modern Colt firearms. Accompanied by a letter from Jim Alaimo, former Superintendent of the Colt Custom Workshop dated November 17, 1996 and providing detailed additional information on this work of art.
