Superb quality 19th century copy of Crusader era sword, 39" blade, 46-1/2" overall, blade is finely engraved and gold gilded with portraits and Latin inscription. The hilt is nicely chiseled and inlaid with silver andshows traces of gold gilt. The grip is of root burl wood with silver engraved pins. There is silver overlaid on each side of grip with beautifully lettered Latin inscription with floral borders. The pommel is silverinlaid around the rim, at each center with knights cross. The pommel shows traces of rich gold gilt. The blade measures 3" across the ricasso, and tapers to a slim point. The work is as finely done and probablyItalian during early to mid-19th century by excellent armorer who painstakingly handmade this sword and richly decorated it. Several armor experts have stated this is the best 19th century sword in the Medieval style that they ever examined. Est.: $3,500-$7,000
