c. 1864 Civil War Era, measuring 5” wide x 6.25” tall, original semi-translucent period white ceramic period Bust of Union General Grant, shown as a Three Star General. Inscribed formal title in tall text just below his bust upon the lower pedestal reads, “U.S. GRANT”. Ulysses S. Grant became a Three-Star Lieutenant General on March 9, 1864 and soon became a viable Political Candidate for President for which position he ran, directly after the Civil War. Grant was commissioned the first full (Four-Star) General in American history (July 25, 1866), being elected in 1868 the 18th U.S. President with his term running from March 4, 1869 to March 4, 1877.
