SUPERB CHIEF OF POLICE WARREN, OHIO SOLID GOLD BADGE WITH 14 FINE DIAMONDS AND FIRED ENAMEL CIRCA 1919 - This wonderful solid gold eagle-topped shield badge is encrusted with 12 diamonds and features nice enamel work. The center diamond is a 1 ct. stone, and the other eleven (11) diamonds are ½ ct. each. This fine badge was presented to Barney J. Gillen, Chief of Police of Warren, Ohio and is marked as such on the front and reverse. The reverse reads, “Presented to Barney J. Gillen by members of Police Force and merchants of Warren, Ohio”. The enamel work is done in crossed American Flags, and there is also a fine engraved Eagle on the top of the shield and in the center. This is a jeweler-made badge that was custom ordered. There is a historical record of the presentation in the local paper, which was lost from this item but readily available with historical research. This fine badge measures 1.85“x 2.75“ tall. The pin is the jeweler's type catch on a swivel. A very fine example of a lawman's badge that has become an American art form. From The George Jackson Collection.

Shipping: Miscellaneous Collectibles, Smal (view shipping information)
