That's no misprint on the slab: <I>Harvey Kurtzman</B></I> was the cover artist here! If the style seems quite different from that of "Hey Look," <B>Mad</B></I>, etc. consider the artist's 1924 date of birth and this issue's April 1943 cover date -- he was quite young! Though this cover's unsigned, any doubters can look up the cover to V3#3 which does bear his signature. As for this effort here, the ingeniously bizarre goings-on earned it Overstreet's "classic cover" designation. Speaking of things that have been dipped into vats of acid, that would just about describe the condition of the only other copy of this we'd seen. So we're enjoying this NM copy. Even the great Crippen run of this title starts later than this issue, so don't ask us where another nice copy could be found. Overstreet 2006 NM- 9.2 value = $825.
