Ala al-Din Mujahid Shah, Gold Tanka, 10.92g, Hadrat Ahsanabad Mint, AH 779, Arabic legend on both sides, Obv: “al-Sultan al-’Azam Ala al-Dunya wa al-Din Abu al-Mughazi Mujahid Shah al-Sultan”, Rev: “al-Muwayyid bi-Nasr Allah Yamin al-Khilafah Nasir Amir al-Mumineen” in rectangle, mint and AH date in margins (G&G# BH46). Extremely fine, exceedingly rare.
Mujahid Shah was the son of Muhammad Shah Bahmani. He was focussed on defeating the Vijayanagara king Harihara II - however his reign was cut short by his cousin Daud Shah who murdered him in his camp near Mudgal.
