<B>SUITE OF THREE TOURMALINE CRYSTALS</B></I><BR><BR> <I>Minas Gerais, Brazil</B></I><BR>These three gem tourmalines are the product of two of the more renowned sources for exotically colored tourmaline in the world: the Cruzeiro mine and the Santa Rosa mine, both located in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The green prism with the red pyramidal termination is from the Cruzeiro Mine. Its color grades from a grass green base upwards into a short colorless zone and finally ends in a cranberry magenta tip. The second Cruzeiro piece is also green for most of its length, it is somewhat different in that it possesses a pastel pink core near the base and instead of a red pyramidal termination it exhibits the flat form. Both are clean and sharp with a glassy luster. The third crystal which comes from the Santa Rosa Mine displays several differences from the first two. Its color at the base is a cool pastel blue. This blue is both enveloped with and terminated by a red outer layer. This gives the piece the appearance of a lilac body color over a portion of its length. In addition, the piece displays multiple flat terminations with complex modification to the edges. The luster is an unusual satin etched type occasionally seen in specimens from this mine. It is clean and free from damage. All of the crystals are approximately 2 ½ inches in height and are mounted on a custom base for display purposes.
