1) 1871.  Third Volume, 2nd Revision. 215pp. including numerous woodcut illustrations, plus two large folding sheets with plates and maps printed on both sides (one map colored). Original gilt pebbled cloth. It describes the route and scenery along the Union and Central Pacific Railroad route from the Mississippi to San Francisco, with a wealth of detail and illustration. Includes biographical sketches of Brigham Young and Leland Stanford. The large maps are of the world, and of the route of the Union Central Railroad. Map has two large rips – one through Battle Mountain, Nevada. Large colored map in rear has tears at folds. 2) 1872. Fourth Volume, 3rd revision. Different from first volume. Has tipped in maps: Yosemite National Park topographic map, Crofutt’s new map of Salt Lake City, and the Omaha, Nebraska railroad station. Gilt edged pages and gilt print on cover. Book is in poor condition: missing pp 23-26, foldout on p. 48 and ½ fold out on page 130, at least one tape repair, covers wrinkled, cover edges worn. 224 + 8 pages. 3) 1873. Fifth Volume, 3rd annual revise. Additional tipped-in page of the Valley of Yellowstone. Large colored map has rips at fold intersections.
