Studio Potter Figurine, Falstaff from the Merry Wives of Windsor
Charming and richly glazed ceramic figurine by studio potter Reginald Johnson, depicting Sir John Falstaff, the roguish knight from Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor. Seated jovially on a bench, Falstaff is shown mid-gesture with a tankard in one hand and a cheeky expression, dressed in a vibrant yellow tunic, crimson breeches, and brown boots, with a green and blue cap. The underside of the base is inscribed with "Windsor by William Shakespeare 1564", reinforcing its literary provenance. A fine representation of character and color that reflects the humor and theatricality of the Bard's beloved play. Royal Doulton backstamp. Measures 9"H.
