Stroke Of Luck Rare Larry Fine Autobiography
Stroke Of Luck Rare Larry Fine Autobiography It wasn't easy to be the "Middle Stooge" but there was no one greater than Larry Fine. Having to cope with the atomic power of the real-life brother's Moe, Curly and Shemp, with their ballistic energy and etched-in-iron personalities, Larry found a way to demand attention by being the "under-player". Not an easy job, but he was magnificent at it. He was also the rock, who, along with Moe stayed with the team from its inception in the early 1920's with Ted Healy, to their fame at Columbia Studios where they made over 200 classic shorts, to their features and continue success on TV and on Touring up until 1970, when he had a debilitating stroke. Although his left side was partially paralyzed, he continued to take in visitors, work on art projects, and answered letters. He also wrote his autobiography, "Stroke of Luck" with James Carone. It sold out immediately, and went into three hardcover printings. He died only a few years later. This is one of those extremely hard-to-find hardcover versions of his book. It has the original dust cover, and is filled with amazing personal photos of a truly remarkable career, as well as his sometimes tragic personal life. A remarkable collectable. (Book is 6"x9" with original jacket cover. Note the dust cover is slightly "dog-eared" through normal aging).
