Green and white striped shirt worn by British singer/songwriter and actor Anthony Newley in the 1967 film ''Doctor Doolittle''. In addition to acting in forty-six films over the course of his life, Newley had a dozen singles land on the UK Top 40 and was nominated for an Academy Award for the score to the beloved 1971 Film ''Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory''. He was also nominated for a Tony and inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1989. In ''Doctor Doolittle'', Newley plays ''Matthew Mugg'' the Irishman who encounters the eccentric ''Doctor John Doolittle'' and his world of talking animals. Embroidered onto the ''Manchin Shirtmaker'' label inside the collar are the initials ''A.N.'' Also imprinted in yellow on the bottom inside of the shirt is a stamp from Western Costume Co. Shirt is an approximate men's size medium. Some re-stitching on the left sleeve and down the front. Minor wear, overall very good condition.
