Strawick Plains Rifle CAl: .50 SN: NVSN
A heavy barreled cap and ball muzzle loading rifle. The 30" barrel has a bright bore with strong, deep rifling. The barrel is 1-5/16" across the flats. The steel is a uniform plum brown. The name "STRAWICK" is stamped on the muzzle. There was a family of gunsmiths named Strawick in Western Pennsylvania starting in 1810. The half-stock seems to be of curly maple with German silver hardware (patch-box, forend cap, wedge plates, etc.) and decorations. There is a crack on the left side of the stock from the trigger guard to the tang and a repaired chip at the back of the barrel. There are the original front and rear sights but a Lyman peep sight was professionally added later with a "globe" tube before the front sight. The lock plate is marked "HUNTER" and there are double set triggers. Condition is very good. *Antique Firearm*
