Hollister (1882) notes that the Stormont Company mines are located at Silver Reef, Harrisburg District, Washington County. They own the Stormont, Thompson, McNally, Last Chance, Buckeye, and Savage claims. The Stormont Mill is on the Rio Virgen, 6 miles from the mines. Developments are through two shafts, one of which is 245 ft. deep with four levels 1,500 ft. long. Ore is found "often in association with fossil remains and petrifactions of reeds and rushes."In three years, the company has milled and produced 976,934 ounces of silver.
