This unique antique stoneware or earthenware jug has its original stopper, and features a hexagonal shape with raised handles, and a rich blue and green glazed finish. No hallmarks have been found and the maker is unknown. Measures 8" wide/deep and 9" high. Weighs estimated 5-7 lbs. While the glaze is reminiscient of Grueby, we have never seen jugs of this type made by the company.

This item comes from the collection of Roni Steinberg Sokoloff and resided in her former 63-acre estate in Bedford New York known as Cantitoe Farms. (Formerly known as Sycamore Farms, the estate is down the road from Martha Stewart's home by the same name.) The jug was purchased by Ms. Sokoloff in the 1980s.
