Steyr marked Mannlicher Schoenauer model 1903 rifle with made in Austria marking on the breech in 6.5mm caliber, serial number 20670. The breech end of the barrel is engraved Mel Blackwell possibly the original owner as the engraving has aged and is of the pre-war era in our opinion. The metal surfaces are in good condition showing 50% to 70% thinning and toning blue finish which is drifting with some minor erosion. There is a period unmarked receiver sight mounted in the left rear of the frame. The light-colored wood stocks are in good condition showing many small dings, mars, scratches and hunting type use. A thin European leather sling of the pre-war era is included and the action is good. The bore is good to very good and may clean. Shows a 22” barrel with 5/8 length stock. Est.: $800-$1600
