Marked "bnz/ Sig rune/ 44", reportedly the marking of rifles produced using labor from the Steyr-Munichholz concentration camp, and intended for use by armed elements of the Schutzstaffel. A sub camp of the Mauthausen-Gusen camp, the Steyr camp was established especially for skilled laborers to be used in the Steyr factory and surrounding areas, and would be liberated by the Allies in 1945. Hooded blade and tangent sights, with eagle proof and "Dv" next to "bnz/1" in a shield at the breech. Milled barrel bands, with milled "77" marked trigger guard and floor plate and "63" proofed bolt. Smooth stock, with a faint Totenkopf stamp behind the trigger guard and "gqm/ 43 (struck)/ WaA285/ -64901-" (Lock and Hartenberger, Idar-Oberstein) on the cupped buttplate. Equipped with a sling and a Zeiss scope, "359" (Erfurt/ Walther) proofs on the reproduction quick detach mount and long rail base, and a leather sling. In a case from Mitchell's Mausers, along with a certificate of authenticity, papers and a copy of the book "Sniper Variations of the German K98k Rifle" by Richard Law.

Condition: Near mint as professionally refinished, with 99% of the blue, with minor pitting visible under the finish and some minor handling marks overall. Stock is very fine, with a chip on the toe and light pressure dents. Mechanically excellent. Optics are clear. Case is excellent.
