Steyr Model 1903 Mannlicher-Schoenauer Bolt Action Carbine, #21007, 6.5mmx54mm cal., 17.7'' round barrel with dovetailed ''V'' notch rear sight and folding 300 yard leaf; front sight is a dovetailed ''Marbles'' replacement with a rounded gold-colored bead; rust blued finish, full-length walnut Mannlicher style stock with horn capped pistol grip, grooved steel buttplate with trap and storage for three rounds of ammunition, checkered grip panels and forend, double set triggers, and spoon-handled bolt knob. Action chamber area has a matted fine lined finish with stamped letters ''Made in Austria'', Patent Mannlicher Schoenauer M.1903''. Austrian proofmarks on left side of rear barrel; Steyr maker mark on left side of action, with rotary internal magazine. Stock has a Monte Carlo type cheekpiece on left side, a metal end cap on the tip of forend, and is fitted with sling swivels. Condition is very good with barrel and action retaining approx. 95% of its original rust blued finish, showing wear to the high edges of the sling strap around the barrel, the front and rear sight bosses, center and high edges of the steel end cap, and front sling swivel. Bolt and safety show minor edgewear and losses to the blued finish where the bolt rides in the action from normal use. Triggerguard shows thinning to the blued finish and muted case coloring on double set triggerplate. Floorplate of the magazine shows thinning of finish and high edgewear. Buttplate has wear and thinning to the finish, with about 50% remaining. Fire blued finish on bolt release and straw finish on the action spring is approx. 50%. Walnut stock shows numerous dings, scratches, and scuffs overall, with some small dings to the checkered panels; wood finish is original. Action and double set triggers function properly; bore is shiny and bright. Est.: $1,200-$1,800. (C&R)
