Stevens Reliable No. 42 2nd Issue Tip-Up Single-Shot Pocket Rifle, with Full-Length Tube Scope, Matching No.'d Skeleton Shoulder Stock, and Leather Scabbard, #91775, .22 LR RF cal., blued 10'' round-to-octagonal barrel marked with maker's name and address at breech, has dovetailed mounts for blued scope, no other sights; nickel-plated frame has left-side barrel release button, central hammer, integral spurtrigger sheath and gripstraps, varnished two-piece walnut grips. Mfg'd ca. 1896-1916. Condition is excellent, retaining approx. 97% deep original barrel blue, 85% frame nickel (dulling at left forepart), sharp edges and markings. Grips are sound and smooth having minor marks and retaining approx. 85% original varnish (losses mainly to right side). Action is smooth; bore is brilliant with sharp rifling. Scope retains 97% thinning deep blue, clear optics and sharp crosshairs. Nickel-plated metal stock measures 10.5'' overall, has 1.5'' front section (matching #''91775'') that fits into dovetail in pistol butt, retains 95% original nickel with occasional light marks. Very rare leather scabbard retains perhaps 40% of what appears to be a patent-leather finish, has sound stitching, left-side belt loop, right-side pocket for stock.
