Stevens-Pope single-shot falling-block rifle, .25-21 caliber. 32” half-round half-octagon barrel of medium weight, doubleset triggers, blue and case hardened finish, select walnut fancy stocks with schuzen style buttplate,high-rise cheekpiece, schutzen butt, serial #441. Barrel is #1662, and shows “18/141” Pope markings. The rifle remains in very good plus original condition showing 75-85% original blue on barrel. Some slight drifting on the edges, normal aging, minor scratches. The frame shows 60-80% case hardening with some erosion and normal age. The stocks are very good plus to near fine with crisp checkering. The barrel is mounted with scopebox secured by tapped screws. A later Lyman type front sight is in the original front dovetail. The stocks are very good plus and crisp, the rifle shows an adjustable veneer tang sight. The action is tight, the boreexcellent. A very nice Stevens-Pope rifle. From the John Goodlad collection.
