Steve Lowries Colt 1860 Army converted revolver serial number 191652 .44 caliber with an 8” barrel. This Colt was taken off Steve Lowrie after he was killed. The pistol was picked up by Thomas Sutton who was in a posse who helped capture Steve Lowrie dead. In 1874 Thomas Sutton was summoned to appear in court with said pistol. This pistol remained in the Sutton family until 1993 when it was sold to a dealer at a Dallas gun show. With this pistol comes a handwritten letter by Thomas Sutton and letter from his grandson. Condition is as noted. Metal is a dark plum patina with surface oxidation visible. Action indexes properly with a tight lock up. Action mechanically functions correctly. Cylinder still shows a visible scene and is non-matching, other parts of revolver are matching. Grips are good with no crack noted with traces of original varnish. Revolver comes with a period correct holster.
