James Dean truly is a prince among movie stars, and he takes on a new status as a Pop art icon in this terrific Kaufman print. Biography: Steve Kaufman (1960-2010 ) was born in the Bronx, New York, and began his art career as a kid, painting faces on pet-rocks for Macy's department store. Later, he worked as an assistant to Andy Warhol in Warhol s factory. He eventually opened his own gallery, and hired many homeless and ex-gang members to work for him. Kaufman became known for his charity work, not just monetarily, but through personal visitation. He contributed an AIDS Memorial in New York City, and a Meals on Wheels mural on the walls of the legendary Spago Restaurant in Los Angeles. His artwork can be found today in a wide array of public and private institutions around the world, including The White House, and the Smithsonian Institution. He was commissioned to paint artist portraits by the estates of two of the greatest artists of all time, Van Gogh and Picasso. Kaufman is recognized around the world as one of the greatest Pop artists.
